According to a new study, the dolphins inherited chronic illnesses as their mothers were exposed to oil. Researchers said the findings suggest the dolphins died in the womb or shortly after birth, and their lungs never had a chance to fully develop and inflate. The BP oil spill dumped 4.9 billion gallons of oil into the Gulf Coast over five months before it was capped and now six years on, the disaster is still claiming victims.
