Calls For UK Govt To Clarify Role In Getting Saudi Arabia Onto UNHRC

The British prime minister has been urged to clarify the role the UK Government played in voting Saudi Arabia on to the UN Human Rights Council. The leaders of the Green Party and the Liberal Democrats are calling on David Cameron to come clean on the issue. The calls follow the kingdom’s execution of 47 people in a single day which sparked outrage across the Middle East.

SAS To Spearhead Libya Operation To Seize Oil Fields From ISIS

SAS troops have been deployed in Libya preparing to wrest back control of more than a dozen oil fields seized by Islamic State. Approximately 6,000 European and US soldiers, including 1,000 British troops, will be involved in a number of offensives set up to halt the advance of ISIS. According to the Daily Mirror, the operation, supported mainly by Britain and France, will be led by Italian forces and is planned within the next few weeks or months.

Bahrain, Sudan & UAE Join Saudi Arabia And Cut Ties To Iran

Nations allied to Saudi Arabia have joined diplomatic action against Iran, amid a row over the Saudi execution of Shia Muslim cleric Nimr al-Nimr. Bahrain and Sudan have both followed Saudi Arabia and cut diplomatic relations with Iran. Bahrain has demanded that Iranian diplomats leave the country within 48 hours. The UAE has downgraded its diplomatic team and announced it is planning to cut the number of Iranian diplomats it allows to be in the country. The BBC reports: Saudi Arabia on Sunday gave Iranian diplomats two days to leave after an attack on its embassy in Tehran.
