"Everything's Out" - San Francisco Blackout Shuts Down BART, Traffic Lights, Business Across Downtown

A massive power outage in San Francisco on Friday morning caused a blackout in neighborhoods across the city, from the Financial District to the Presidio, forcing the closure of businesses, a federal courthouse and a BART station, officials said. As SFGates reports, a spokesman for Pacific Gas and Electric Co. said at least 90,000 customers lost power.

FBI Arrests Widow Of Orlando Nightclub Shooter

The last time we heard of Noor Salman, the widow of the Orlando nighclub shooter, she was said to have disappeared from the authorities' radar, whether on purpose or because she was not a suspect. That changed on Monday, when law enforcement officials told AP that the widow of the Orlando nightclub shooter was arrested Monday by the FBI. 

The official said Noor Salman was taken into custody Monday morning in the San Francisco area and is due in court Tuesday in California. She's facing charges in Florida including obstruction of justice.

US Retaliates Against Russia For "Hacking The Election": Expels 35 Diplomats, Closes Compounds, Issues Sanctions

As promised (or threatened), the Obama administration has unveiled - via the US Treasury - new sanctions against Russia over election hacking allegations (that as yet have not been supported by any actual evidence). Despite president-elect Trump's comments that "we ought to get on with our lives," the sanctions apply to five entities and six individuals, and also including the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats and closing two Russian compounds in New York and Maryland in response to a campaign of harassment against American diplomats in Moscow, a senior U.S. official said on Thursday.
