Angela Merkel Caves To Turkish Pressure, Authorizes Criminal Probe Against Comic

Several weeks ago, a German comedian Jan Böhmermann, landed in hot water after releasing a satirical "video poem" about the Turkish president which aired in ZDF Neo Royale program on March 31, and accuses Erdogan of repressing Turkey’s national and religious minorities, as well as of being a pedophile.

The video, which incidentally was less funny than the author had intended, can be seen in the clip below.

First, the policy is not truly European; it was negotiated with Turkey and imposed on the EU by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Egyptians Outraged At Government Plan To Hand Over Islands To Saudi Arabia As Saudi King Arrives In Turkey

While the algos are focusing on where the next "OPEC freeze" headline (and subsequent rejection) will come from, Saudi Arabia is quietly creating a new alliance among the U.S. "reject" nations in the region.

Earlier today, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz at the Presidential Palace in Ankara on Tuesday. After an official welcoming ceremony, Erdogan presented the order of the State of the Republic of Turkey to the Saudi monarch. It is the Saudi king's first visit to Turkey since ascending the throne early last year.

Turkish PM: Damascus Will ‘One Day Be Liberated’

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has vowed that the Syrian cities of Aleppo, Raqqa, Homs and Damascus will “one day be liberated” from the control of the Syrian government. Hurriyet Daily News reports: “One day, God willing, Aleppo, Raqqa, Homs and Damascus will be free,” Davutoglu said on April 11 in a speech in Turkey’s southeastern province of Şanlıurfa. Aleppo, Homs and Damascus are all under the control of the Bashar al-Assad regime, while Raqqa is held by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Israel Emergency: All Citizens Ordered To Evacuate Turkey Immediately

Israel have issued an emergency warning for all Israeli citizens in Turkey to evacuate immediately, citing an “imminent threat” of a terrorist incident occurring.  Israel’s Counter-Terrorism Bureau issued the unusual statement on Friday, saying: “Following a situational assessment, we are reiterating and sharpening the high level of threat in Turkey. Real and immediate terror threats remain throughout the country,” the statement said, urging Israelis visiting Turkey to “avoid crowded tourist areas, follow instructions of local authorities and get out as soon as possible.” Timesofisrael.com
