How is this cycle of escalation going to end?  Each day, either Hezbollah or Israel is escalating matters to a dangerous new level.  A war between the two parties has already begun, and at this point I don’t see any way to avoid a full-blown regional war that will result in tremendous death and destruction.  Many had been hoping that cooler heads would prevail in 2024, but instead this new year has started with a series of very alarming escalations…

A group of 17 staffers for President Biden’s 2024 re-election have signed onto an anonymous letter protesting the president’s support for the Israeli slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza.

“Complicity in the death of over 20,000 Palestinians, 8,200 of whom are children, simply cannot be justified,” the letter reads.

The Israel government is directly causing thousands of deaths in Gaza. But, the biggest contributor to inflicting death in Gaza will likely be the Israel government causing the loss of necessities for health, including nutrition, sanitation, shelter, and medical aid. The deaths total could reach within a year up to a quarter of the Gaza population. That is around half a million people, the vast majority of whom are noncombatants.
