When I read Trump’s defenders, such as Daniel Lazare, having to balance their defense with denunciations of Trump, I think the CIA’s propaganda is working. Saudi Arabia has admitted using banned cluster bombs during its airstrikes against Yemen. The Saudi’s have finally admitted that they used British-manufactured cluster bombs against Houthi rebels in Yemen, increasing pressure on the UK government which has repeatedly refused to curb arms sales to Riyadh. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have on several occasions reported the use of illegal cluster bombs by the kingdom in Yemen.
King Salman has warned that Saudi Arabia will not tolerate any external “interference” in Yemen as his forces continue to wage war against Houthi rebels, killing hundreds of civilians and leaving millions facing starvation.
The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) warn that hunger among Yemen’s children has reached an “all time high”, with nearly 2.2 million in need of urgent care. The agency added that round 1.7 million, were suffering from moderate acute malnutrition. These children are suffering from the highest ever recorded rates of malnutrition amid scarcity of food supplies due to Saudi Arabia’s devastating military campaign against its poor neighbor.
