Among Mercedes’ lineup is the EQS SUV line and the new electric Mercedes-Benz CLA, which is being hailed as one of the most efficient EVs for fast charging. BMW, meanwhile, leans on the success of the BMW i4—its best-selling EV this year.
Tesla, once dominant in the U.S. EV space, now finds itself in a shifting position. Despite a still-strong lineup, the company is seeing global sales pressure as consumers react to CEO Elon Musk’s growing political alignment with President Donald Trump. Demand for the recently restyled Model Y, launched in January, has shown signs of weakness amid fierce competition.
EVs accounted for around 8% of total U.S. passenger vehicle sales in 2024 and are expected to reach 10% this year. Back in 2015, they represented only 1% of total sales.
