With $638 billion in sales in 2024, Amazon could soon become America’s largest company by revenue if trends continue.

The retail juggernaut earned more revenue than all other Magnificent Seven companies based on their latest annual reports, driven from its diversified business model of e-commerce sales, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and subscription services.

This graphic shows Amazon’s revenue breakdown in 2024, based on data from its 10-K filing, which is its annual report.

Overall, Amazon raked in $247 billion in revenue from online marketplace sales and $156.1 billion from third-party seller services, which includes fees on merchants that use its platform.

Last year, the company delivered more than two billion “everyday essentials” to customers, including laundry detergent and supplements. For perspective, Walmart reported $681 billion in revenue in 2024, including delivering five billion items with same-day delivery.

While Walmart stands as the largest company by revenue in America, Amazon is on track to surpass the retail giant. In Walmart’s latest annual report, sales increased by 5.1%, roughly half the rate of Amazon.

Notably, AWS, its cloud services division, stood as its third-highest revenue stream. Overall, AWS produces more than half of the company’s operating income thanks to healthy margin expansion and its dominant role in the global cloud market. As of the fourth quarter of 2024, AWS commanded 30% of the $330 billion cloud services market, followed by Microsoft (21%) and Google (12%).
