Update: COMCAST SAYS XFINITY ISSUES RESOLVED FOR ALMOST ALL CUSTOMERS

According to DownDetector.com, and numerous twitter complaints, Comcast's internet service, Xfinity, is suffering an outage across the country. DownDetector.com shows XFinity internet being down around the United States, mostly on the east coast, but also in in large west coast cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle. So far, online reports don't suggest that TV service or home phones are affected.

Comcast customer care first confirmed the outage at 1:36pm: “Some customers are having issues with their XFINITY Internet service. We apologize & appreciate your patience while we work to fix.”

As of 2:40pm, the outage had not been resolved, with Comcast blaming an "external network issue":

User reported that the outage, which began around 1 PM ET, led to intermittent or slow services, while others were unable to access the web at all. Some users reported only some websites as inaccessible or slow, including Twitter. Users were still reporting problems as of 2:40 p.m. EDT, though some Twitter users managed to get online long enough to make a few jokes about the situation.

It was not immediately clear which particular Russians would be blamed for the outage, although some have noted that the outage appears to have originated with Level3/CenturyLink, whose nationwide backbone is suffering major routing issues, and is in turn affecting most major ISPs.
