New Jersey transit trains between Newark and New York City have been suspended due to massive brush fires according to abc7 news.

The fires started in the Meadowlands in Kearny and Secaucus sometime around noon.

From the report:

New Jersey Transit said Midtown Direct trains are being diverted to Hoboken beginning with train 6640. Amtrak has also suspended Northeast Corridor service between New York and Newark. West/southbound trains are being held at New York Penn Station and east/northbound trains at Newark Penn Station.

Amtrak is coordinating with local authorities and will restore service as soon as it is safe to do so.

It was not immediately clear if these brushfires will boost Q2 GDP, either for the US or for New Jersey (in the aftermath of the Tepper departure, it needs it), or whether Chris Christie would declare a national emergency: breaking windows is one thing, but we are not sure what Keynesian canon says about melting them.
