Former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Dies Of Cancer

Controversial Canadian politician Rob Ford has died of Cancer at the age of 46. He was known as a man who spoke his mind and will be remembered as the politician who called you back. Ford gained notoriety when he admitted to smoking crack cocaine during his time in office. He had been fighting a battle with cancer and only recently declared himself cancer-free. The Star reports: Ford famously made his cellphone and home number available to the public. Not only would he call people back to discuss their concerns, he would occasionally show up at people’s doors, listening to them complain about everything from potholes to city taxes. After news of his death broke, people lined up at city hall to sign a condolences book and others left flowers at an impromptu memorial at the Douglas B. Ford park in Etobicoke, named for Ford’s father. Those who met him during his stint in City Hall fondly remember him as an approachable guy who took a real interest in the lives of people in Toronto. Al Mosher, who lives in the riding of York Southwest, recalled Ford as a matter-of-fact politician who cared about what his constituents had to say. [...]
