A 25-year-old French citizen has been caught attempting to smuggle over 100 kilo’s of bombs and weapons to the Euro 2016 championships. State border security guards detained the man at the Ukrainian-Police border this week, and found him to be carrying 100 kg of explosives, fuses, three grenade launchers and several Kalashnikov assault rifles. The RIA Novosti news agency confirmed the man had been detained, saying “I can say that yes, it happened, but all within the competence of the security Service of Ukraine”. The Euro 2016 games are set to take place across various French cities between June and July. Ukropnews24.com reports: According to TV channel M6, the man was planning to smuggle weapons to France in order to allegedly carry out terrorist attacks, writes Le Figaro. It is also reported that the man is still under arrest in Ukraine in anticipation of a possible request for extradition. Earlier it was reported that the US state Department warned of possible terrorist attacks in Europe in the summer, in particular for Euro 2016.
