Russian Sappers Finish De-Mining Ancient Jewel Of Palmyra

A bunch of not so bad Ruskis have finished de-mining the historical part of the city of Palmyra, once considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. ISIS took a hammer to the ‘oasis in the desert’ chipping away at man’s cultural heritage, letting the international community know what they think of their so called consideration. In a short period of time they looted and destroyed archaeological treasures and meted out their sick style of justice to the locals and prisoners.

NATO Paved The Way For ISIS To Take Palmyra

American author Daniel Lazare blames American action and inaction for the capture of the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra last year, which was liberated recently by the Syrian Arab Army. Washington and its allies in the Middle East funneled arms to terror groups such as Daesh and al-Qaeda and later sat back and watched as Palmyra fell into the hands of their favorite Islamists. Western leaders and allies blamed president Assad for their shortcomings, repeating the mantra “Assad must go” while Palmyra was being beheaded and pulverized by terrorists.

Drone Footage Shows Liberated Palmyra After ISIS

The ancient city of Palmyra was recently liberated from the Islamic State jihadists in central Syria. Russia Today correspondent Lizzie Phelan visited the ‘pearl of the desert’ and checked what remained of the UNESCO World Heritage Site after ISIS took hold of the city and its ancient archaeological treasures last year and subjected it to wanton destruction, as with all cultural sites and artifacts that fall under their hands. Russia Today reports: Just getting to Palmyra is a challenge.

Putin Congratulates Assad On Defeating ISIS

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on defeating ISIS in the city of Palmyra.  The Syrian army reclaimed the ancient city of Palmyra from ISIS militants who had captured the city last May. Independent.co.uk reports: “Assad highly valued the help Russian air forces have provided and underlined that such successes as regaining Palmyra would have been impossible without Russia’s support,” Dmitry Peskov said,according to Reuters.

Video: Syrian Army Retakes Ancient City Of Palmyra From ISIS

Syrian government troops have retaken and established full control of the ancient city of Palmyra from that hands of ISIS Military sources said that after days of heavy fighting and with the backing of Russian airstrikes, the army is in full control of Palmyra, both the ancient site and the residential neighborhoods President Bashar al-Assad hailed the recapture of Palmyra from the Islamic State as an “important achievement” in the “war on terrorism”. President Assad said the recapture of Palmyra showed the success of the army’s strategy.
