The "it's-not-our-fault, Russia-is-to-blame-for-Trump" narrative is escalating amid Sunday political talk shows with Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill spewing that any attempt by Russia to meddle in the United States presidential election should be seen as "a form of warfare."
“This should be not only about protecting us going forward, but this is a form of warfare,” McCaskill told ABC’s “This Week.”
As The Hill reports, McCaskill was responding to recent reports that that CIA concluded Russia tried to interfere in the presidential election to help Donald Trump win.
“For him to be trying to impact our election, he has to be held accountable,” she added, calling Russian President Vladimir Putin a "thug."
The Obama administration in October formally accused Russia of trying to meddle in the election. A recent report in The Washington Post says the CIA found that Russia was trying to help elect Trump.
McCaskill also exclaimed that President-elect Donald Trump has “a three 'G' Cabinet,” filled with “Goldman, generals and gazillionaires.”
Trump has so far chosen several generals for positions in his Cabinet. Last week, the president-elect announced retired Gen. James Mattis would be his pick for secretary of Defense and retired Gen. John Kelly to lead the Department of Homeland Security.
McCaskill, who sits on the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, said Kelly is a “fine general.”
“I think he is a fine general and I want to make sure that he has a handle on some of the complicated issues that are contained in homeland security,” she said.
The farce of speculative claims continues as denial grows stronger among the special snowflakes who just can't see beyond their divisive tactics. In this case we leave it to Donald Trump himself to conclude: "I think it's ridiculous. I think it's just another excuse. I don't believe it."
