In a highly unusual decision sure to open old wounds among Iraqis and further prolong an already protracted legal saga, a US appeals court has thrown out the murder conviction of an ex-Blackwater security guard and ordered three co-defendants to be resentenced for their roles in the deadliest incident involving the controversial private security firm to date.

ISIS Attacks Kill 24 In Baghdad As Iraqi Forces Enter Falluja

Bomb attacks in the north and northeast of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Monday, have killed at least 24 people and injured dozens more. ISIS claimed responsibility for the suicide bombings as Iraqi forces entered Falluja, the latest phase in the week-long operation to capture the terrorists’ stronghold near the Iraqi capital. The Iraqi army, supported by Iranian-backed Shia militia, began the operation to recapture Falluja on May 23rd by tightening its siege around the city, 30 miles west of Baghdad, and has now started a direct assault.

At Least 72 People Killed In Triple Baghdad Bombings

At least 72 people were killed and more than 140 injured in Baghdad when three bombs went off Tuesday, according to police and medical sources. The explosions hit Shia-dominated neighbourhoods in the north and south of the Iraqi capital as well as the Sadr City district. RT reports: The three blasts, which appeared not to be connected, struck different areas of Baghdad, and extend a deadly spate of attacks that the Iraqi capital has had to endure this year. The worst explosion hit a district in the north of Baghdad, killing 38 people and injuring at least 70 others.

ISIS Suicide Bombers Target Natural Gas Plant In Iraq

ISIS launched an attack on a natural gas plant near the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Sunday morning. Police say that at least 14 people died, and at 27 others were injured in the bombing. RT reports: The attack was carried out using a car explosive, at the entrance to the factory, at about 6am on Sunday. After that, at least six attackers arrived on another vehicle, wearing explosive vests, and clashed with the police. Security forces were among the 11 victims who was killed in the attack.
