In an incident that is oddly reminiscent to the "failed coup" in Turkey from last June, late on Tuesday a rogue Venezuelan police helicopter strafed the Supreme Court and the interior ministry on Tuesday, in what President Nicolas Maduro called an attack by "terrorists seeking a coup" and which major news agencies said was an escalation of the OPEC nation's political crisis, although to some local Venezuelans this was a staged attempt to justify ongoing repression at Venezuela's National Assembly.

Following the drop in UMich confidence preliminary print for June (as Republican hope fell), The Conference Board's measure of confidence ticked up, handily beating expectations. The present situation index rose sharply but economic expectations tumbled to its lowest since January.

According to BuzzFeed, which cites three anonymous sources, Russia is reportedly recalling Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, the man who dared to do his job and talk to US politicians and visible public figures, and who according to The Hill had "emerged as a focal point in the FBI probe into Russia’s election meddling."  While the Kremlin has not confirmed the report, BuzzFeed adds that Kislyak is scheduled to leave Washington next month, following a July 11 going-away party at the St. Regis Hotel, two blocks away from the White House.

It is Sunday morning, and Trump celebrated the start of the new week with a tweet at exactly 8 am EDT in which the president lashed out against both Hillary Clinton and the Democratic party, accusing them of colluding to "beat Crazy Bernie Sanders." 

“Hillary Clinton colluded with the Democratic Party in order to beat Crazy Bernie Sanders. Is she allowed to so collude? Unfair to Bernie!” Trump said.

The national Democrats saw Russia-gate and the drive to impeach President Trump as their golden ticket back to power, but so far the ticket seems to be made of fool’s gold.
