Trump Slams Freedom Caucus: "We Must Fight Them"

It appears negotiations between the Trump/Ryan camps and the conservative Freedom Caucus over Obamacare repeal have not only gone nowhere but are back to square one, or perhaps zero, because moments ago Donald Trump, who had taken a modest sabbatical from his favorite social network, lashed out on Twitter against the conservative group that scuttled last Friday's repeal vote, saying "The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don't get on the team, & fast. Republican Lawmaker Quits Freedom Caucus Over Healthcare Bill Disagreement

Republican Representative Ted Poe resigned from the House Freedom Caucus on Sunday in disagreement over the conservative group's role in sinking President Trump healthcare plan. He suggested his resignation was because he wanted to vote for the Republican healthcare proposal which was adamantly opposed by the right-wing caucus.

“I have resigned from the House Freedom Caucus,” Poe said in a statement. Poe broke with the House Freedom Caucus’s views of the GOP healthcare proposal and planned to vote for the bill, which House leaders ultimately pulled from the floor on Friday.

Healthcare Vote Timing: 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm; "Hard No's" Drop To 18

For those curious if today's healthcare vote will take place during market hours, the answer is: it will be dicey. An email from the majority whip Steve Scalise notes that the tentative timing of today's vote will be sometime between 3:45pm and 4:45pm, with a walk off the Floor expected between 4:30pm and 5:30pm.

And in what may be more important news, CNBC's John Harwood reports that "Ryan/Trump have whittled hard no's in House Freedom Caucus down to around 18", with the outstanding question "How many moderates join them?"
