Iran Test Fired 2 Ballistic Missiles As Iranian Vessels Came Within 600 Yards Of US Navy Ship

Trump's geopolitical headaches continue to mount.

One day after North Korea launched 4 ballistic missiles, 3 of which fell into the East Sea inside Japan's economic exclusion zone, and which have painted a spotlight on how Trump will react to this latest provocation, Fox reports that Iran also test-fired a pair of ballistic missiles this weekend into the Gulf of Oman, with one missile destroying a floating barge approximately 155 miles away.

Residents in the Bay area witnessed a mysterious light streaking across the sky early on Tuesday, but it was not a UFO. The US Navy confirmed that it launched two Trident II missiles from submarines off the Californian coast. In a statement they said: “Navy Strategic Systems Programs conducted scheduled Trident II (D5) missile test flights at sea from an Ohio Class SSBN, in the Pacific Test Range off the coast of California” Prior to the statement, locals had reported a mysterious glow in the sky which had lead to speculation about UFO sightings.

The last time a Russian spy ship was spotted in relative proximity to the US, was in September 2015, when shortly after five Chinese naval ships were observed in the Bering Sea, U.S. military satellites identified a Russian spy ship - capable of cutting undersea communications cables and other sensors - off the coast of Kings Bay, Ga., home to the U.S. Navy’s East Coast ballistic missile submarine fleet. Needless to say, the US navy - and Pentagon - were quite displeased: after all it is only Russia that is allowed to be surrounded by NATO forces.

US Deploys Third Carrier Group In Asia To Boost "Naval Air Forces" In Disputed South China Sea

For a brief but tense period, two weeks ago the US found itself without a single aircraft carrier in any area of the globe. The absence of a deployed U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, long seen as a symbol of American power projection, was noteworthy because according to Fox, "it is believed to be the first time since World War II that at least one U.S. aircraft carrier has not been deployed."

The US Navy fired three shots at four Iranian vessels on Sunday night after they closed in at high speed in the Strait of Hormuz.  According to US defense officials, the ‘USS Mahan’ attempted to establish contact with the approaching vessels belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and asked them to reduce their speed, but as they did not respond they fired three ‘warning’ shots towards them. Rt.com reports: According to Reuters, Iranian ships came as close as 800 meters (2,624ft) to the ‘USS Mahan’, which had been guarding other US vessels.
