America will need the Almighty’s unstinting favor if Donald Trump becomes our 45th President. Still, blessed be The Donald for running a demolition derby in the Republican primaries.
There is no hope for the future of capitalist prosperity and a free society at home and world peace abroad unless the Republican Party is destroyed. And, by golly, Trump may well accomplish the deed.
Is the Syrian ceasefire deal nothing more than a cynical ploy on the part of Washington’s ‘coalition’ to buy time for the terrorists? The United States and Russia announced a planned cessation of hostilities in Syria that will come into effect at midnight on 27 February. The US has already started making alternative plans should the truce fail.
On Monday, the US and Russia announced that an agreement on a “cessation of hostilities” in Syria had been reached.
The deal applies only to groups not deemed to be “terrorists” and that determination will supposedly be made by Washington and Moscow with the proper deference to UN designations.
The recent carnage in Ankara comes at a good time for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Erdogan has been demanding that the United States and other NATO allies support him in his war against the Kurds of Syria, who are, incidentally, regarded as allies by Washington in the war against ISIS. The Turks have been bombarding Kurdish positions and staging special ops raids, warning the Kurds against the dangers of becoming too successful in their drive to occupy territory vacated by a retreating ISIS.
