The German beer industry have been left shocked at revelations that 14 of the most popular beers in Germany are contaminated with Monsanto’s carcinogenic herbicide glyphosate. The Munich Environmental Institute (Umweltinstitut München) released the laboratory results on Thursday which showed that all 14 beers tested positive for traces of glyphosate. The German Brewers’ Association, reacted by calling the study by the Munich Environmental Institute “not credible”, but admitted that low residues of the probable human carcinogen glyphosate could not be prevented, because “the herbicide is now found virtually everywhere after decades of use in agriculture”.
