At a time when the people of the globe are increasingly divided by every race, color, gender, and religion; the death of a Muslim-named, anti-war, black man who claimed to be the "the greatest" appears to have brought the world together... however briefly.

In his memoir, Mohammed Ali - who died last night aged 74 - discussed how he'd like to be remembered...

"I would like to be remembered as a man who won the heavyweight title three times, who was humorous, and who treated everyone right.

 

“My conscience won’t let me go shoot my brother, or some darker people, or some poor hungry people in the mud for big powerful America. And shoot them for what? They never called me nigger, they never lynched me, they didn’t put no dogs on me, they didn’t rob me of my nationality, rape and kill my mother and father.

Boxing legend Muhammad Ali passed away on Friday. He was the prettiest black man and the most wonderful boxer America had ever seen. Boxing being a brutal ugly sport was transformed into artistic performance whenever he entered the ring. He dominated the ring and only lost out to himself. Like many boxers Muhammad Ali did not retire from the sport he loved till his brain gave up on too many concussions. Ali was brutalized by the establishment for being a rebel. He was penalized financially for being Muhammad Ali. The greatest American who ever lived, Muhammad Ali, 1942-2016.

Muhammad Ali  “the Greatest” has died at the age of 74. The three-time heavyweight champion who proclaimed himself “the Greatest” who became one of the worlds best known and loved sportsmen in history died late on Friday at a hospital in the US city of Phoenix, Arizona, after being admitted on Thursday. He was suffering from a respiratory illness, a condition that was complicated by Parkinson’s disease. In a statement his family said that the funeral will take place in Ali’s hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.

One day after president Obama took a pot shot at Donald Trump in what appeared to be an escalation in campaigning against the New York billionaire on Hillary's behalf during a Wednesday PBS town hall, Trump promptly shot back, saying that "this is a president who doesn't have a clue," during his rally in Sacramento.  "He’s going to start campaigning. Well, if he campaigns, that means I’m allowed to hit him just like I hit Bill Clinton, I guess right... If he doesn’t, I don’t care.
